Posse Update
Carrying on from my earlier post here. Congrats to the team at Posse!
Below is an excerpt from one of Posse’s updates in their email newsletter as it moves to the next stage.
“We started out as a music site with the ambition of transforming the way events are marketed. Rather than spending big on advertising and posters, our idea was to create a platform where artists could empower and reward their fans for helping to promote them.
As an ex band manager, I know how much dedication and passion fans have for their favourite artists. I know many of Posse’s users are fans of the bands I used to manage and I’ve appreciated all of your support over the years. Without you, my artists wouldn’t have succeeded and my team and I at Scorpio wouldn’t have had the opportunity to work at such a fun and inspiring company.
Posse first launched in 2010 and since then we’ve had some big successes in music promotion. Through our platform, you’ve sold literally millions of dollars of tickets and helped out a lot of bands and music festival promoters. Hundreds of you have been into our office in Surry Hills, Sydney and told us what you want Posse to do. At the same time, our team have discovered and overcome many problems. Some of our biggest issues involved integrating with many ticket retailers around the country so we could cover a whole tour for an artist.
At the same time as identifying challenges to our music strategy, we discovered an opportunity to solve a problem for retailers and passionate shoppers. People sharing their favourite restaurants, bars, yoga studios, hotels or any kind of retail are in the same position as friends talking about new bands they’ve discovered. Just as music fans like the feeling of helping a favourite band to become successful, they also love to know they’re helping their friendly local coffee shop or grocer to succeed.
We spent the past six months completely rethinking our strategy and we’ve created a fun and very useful game for fans of real-world places. So, if you have a collection of favourite places that you’ve discovered and built over time then we’ll be giving you a unique, magical way to show this off to your friends – and support your favourite stores at the same time! You might even get recognition and rewards for your good taste and dedication.
We’ll be letting the first people in to use Posse 2.0 on Tuesday June 12. We’d love your help to make sure all the best local retailers are in our database before we launch. Please go to www.posse.com to add your favourite place and we’ll make sure you’re among the first to see our new site.
Thanks again for all your support. I can’t wait to hear your feedback!”
